A Panel Led by Board Chairman Song Zhiping Visits BNBMT for Guidance

On November 21, led by Song Zhiping, Secretary of Party Committee and Board Chairman of China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CNBM”), a panel visited Beijing New Building Materials (Tanzania) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “BNBMT”) for guidance and investigation. It was accompanied by CNBM’s representatives including Yang Jie, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, General Manager Assistant Wei Feng, Song Jiangtao, Deputy Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and Vice President of China National Building Material Company Limited Cai Guobin; BNBM Group’s representatives including General Manager Tao Zheng, Vice-General Manager Fred Yu and Yamic Zhao, as well as Michael Xiao, General Manager of BNBMT.

Despite the flight fatigue of over 20 hours, the panel led by Board Chairman Song Zhiping went to BNBMT straight for on-site investigation and guidance after stepping off the plane. They successively visited and inspected BNBMT’s exhibition hall and office areas, had a detailed understanding of Party building, business development and safety work, and held cordial exchanges with Chinese and foreign staff.

BNBMT made reports to Board Chairman Song Zhiping on the themes of business development, typical projects involved, the thinking on the future development, and the enhancement of Party building. After listening to the detailed reports from BNBMT, Board Chairman Song Zhiping offered sufficient affirmation to BNBM Group’s achievements in internationalization and the results of strengthening Party building of overseas enterprises. He also spoke highly of BNBMT’s 10-year growth and the efforts of all cadres. He pointed out that there are vast demands in the continent of Africa, where with the rapid development of infrastructure construction, the building materials market has bright prospects. He is full of confidence in BNBMT’s future development and the construction of overseas warehouses, and requires that BNBMT must be actively involved in the local market for development. It must aim high, focusing on the vast market in Africa, unswervingly strengthening and expanding superior service to make achievements. In the course of construction and operation, it needs to sum up reproducible and sustainable operation patterns of overseas warehouses, so as to lay a foundation and make preparations for CNBM to comprehensively have access to the market in Africa.

Board Chairman Song Zhiping made a point of praising the working passion of BNBMT’s staff. He requires that it should pay much attention to the development of young backbone and the vocational development of staff. BNBMT should encourage employees to open up their careers, and make achievements. He hopes that, as a training base, the overseas warehouse of BNBMT can constantly cultivate and supply managerial staff for CNBM to realize the strategies for the African market. 

During the investigation, Board Chairman Song Zhiping attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the CNBM Tanzania Distribution Center and the BNBM Tanzania Logistics Park on November 22, and laid the foundation stone for the distribution center, along with Wang Ke, Ambassador of China to Tanzania, Mwijage, Industry, Trade and Investment Minister of Tanzania, and Raithatha , CEO of the Dangote Group. It is the 10th year since BNBMT started operation in Tanzania, during which the company focuses on three main products—steel, cement and ceramics, and developed into a building materials product supplier with a great scale effect and influences here. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the distribution center has opened a new platform for CNBM’s development in Tanzania, and laid a more solid foundation for the Group’s further development here.

In the speech, Board Chairman Song Zhiping first welcomed all distinguished guests, and expressed his sincere thanks to government departments of Tanzania, Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, and all partners, for their concern and favor about the development of CNBM and BNBM Group. He pointed out that with the rapid development of China–Tanzania relations in recent years, the exchanges in various fields and cooperation levels between the two countries have constantly improved. Thanks to that, relevant CNBM-affiliated enterprises have made rapid development in the investment and trade activities in Tanzania. Africa is a place related to the history and natural extension of Maritime Silk Road, as well as an important direction and foothold for the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. CNBM has developed in Tanzania and Africa for many years, providing multiple cement projects for general contracting, investing in the construction of the building materials industrial park, the logistics distribution center, and the chain supermarket for home building materials, and making a positive contribution to economic and social development in Tanzania and Africa. In the future, the Group will rely on available advantageous resources, and under the guidance of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the “Going Out” Policy, accelerate the layout and construction of industrial clusters in Tanzania and Africa, to provide diversified and high-end products and service for African people, follow the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration with African enterprises and people, and make a greater contribution to the economic and social development in Africa. 

Ambassador Wang Ke extended his warm congratulations to the Tanzania Distribution Center on its establishment, gave full affirmation to the contribution CNBM made to the economic and social development in Tanzania made, and expressed his intention to provide continued support for the Group’s development in Tanzania. Minister Mwijage delivered a passionate speech, in which he thanked CNBM for its efforts for the development of the local cement industry and building materials industry, congratulated the distribution center on its establishment, and said that the Government of Tanzania will vigorously support the local development of CNBM. Raithatha, in his speech, described the good partnership between the Dangote Group and CNBM, as well as his hope of furthering the sustainable and healthy development of the cooperation in the future.

About 300 people attended this grand foundation stone laying ceremony, including relevant departmental personnel of the Government of Tanzania, and relevant personnel of the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, CNBM, and its subsidiary companies, as well as representatives of Chinese organizations, overseas Chinese and customers, and the media.
